Smart Growth

Growth and development are key to our City’s future. We must keep West Columbia moving in the right direction by ensuring that we have smart growth. We have a great City with a rich history that only will get better. Therefore, we do not need to accept new projects or investment that does not fit with our identity. In moving our City forward, we need to make sure projects and investors represent the ideals and values that make West Cola, the Best Cola. 

Public Safety 

Public safety is a core operation of city government and must be a priority as West Columbia continues to prosper. The officers and firefighters in our public safety department take care of our City and we must take care of them. As your Councilman, it will be a top priority to support our officers and firefighters so they are able to protect and serve West Columbia. We must take steps to make salaries and benefits comparable to other cities in order to retain talent. West Columbia is top notch City and we must treat our public safety department the same. It is important that we do not talk the talk when it comes to public safety, but that we actually deliver on our commitment to our public safety department. 

Accountability 

One of the wonderful things about West Columbia is that we take care of one another. In order for our community to remain attractive to people and businesses, it has to be an affordable place to live, raise a family, own property, and conduct business while also providing the essential core functions of government. As a City, we must hold ourselves accountable for taking care of our citizens. We must enforce city codes, provide safe, low-cost water and sewer service, and have clean streets and sidewalks. We must ensure that services are provided timely and of the best quality. As your Councilman, it is my promise that I will do my best to address your concerns and issues. 

Low Taxes 

West Columbia has some of the lowest taxes in the Midlands. There is no reason we cannot maintain that distinction. We will preserve the low taxes and fees in our City and continue to remain a City that knows how to do business. 

Fiscal Discipline 

I am committed to helping our City continue making progress. As your Councilman, I will do everything in my power to ensure that we make financially responsible expenditures that provide our community the greatest benefit.
